Etching Design

Today's work, an etching of a Mongoose. First sketched in pen, photocopied a reverse image and re-sized, then 2 and a half hours of scratching the design into a copper plate. Can't wait to try and print with it!

YOU SHALL NOT PASSsss!

I guess this is only amusing if you're a fan of the novel/film Lord of the Rings and the somewhat indie game Minecraft. But here is my parody of the two. A4 water colour. Another step-by-step:

Sneak Peek

Here's a little sneak peek at a drawing I'm currently working on. This is only a small detail of the line art. Any guesses what this might be?

Current Inspiration

My current inspiration at the moment is an artist who calls herself 'Mary Doodles' on YouTube. I'm a little obsessed with watching how she paints. It's mesmerizing! Check it out:

Steam Power Tribute

A step by step of an A3 water colour painting I did today of the (amazing!) band Steam Powered Giraffe. "The singing musical automaton!". Based on their song 'Brass Goggles'.  Just a small tribute to them and their fantastic music! The actual giraffe is based on their logo. Sorry for the less than adequate photos.

St Paul's Cathedral in Ink

An exercise for class I should have uploaded almost 2 weeks ago when I drew this. A detail drawing of St. Paul's Cathedral (used some photos I took of the Cathedral as reference) drawn entirely with black ink with an ink pen, and painted with ink that had been diluted in water. Postcard size. For a first attempt I'm quite happy with this. It almost has a Roald Dahl feel I think.
A really terrible photo but my phone isn't great quality -_-''

Kick Start! 'Dance with Death'- work in progress

Lets kick this blog off with some work in progress!
This is a drawing inspired by the song The Last Steampunk Waltz by GHOSTFIRE. It might not be Steampunk but the dance with Death and the 'Day of the Dead' corps girl is what came to mind when I heard the harpsichord at the very start of the song.
I think I'll either colour it using photoshop or paint it on canvas. Cheers! :)
