"Loreley"

"And the winds would cry, and many men would die, and all the waves would bow down to the Loreley" - Blackmore's Night

Fine liner (0.05, 0.8) on 150gsm paper

Finally after a year of school work I managed to just sit down and do some personal drawing. It was a nice break from painting. Tafe work to be uploaded soon.

Painting Progress; 'The Maiden and the Selkie'

My previous school project of 'Labyrinth' isn't finished but we had to switch to a new project. This one is based on the song 'The Maiden and the Selkie' by Heather Dale. There's still a lot to do but I just like looking at the progress of her face. This is a comparison of the first day spent painting it and todays 'redo'.

Signing artwork.

I always get confused as to how I should sign my artwork. For some things I put my signature, others like paintings (on canvas or board) I write out my full name, and for a series of small illustrations I'm currently doing I write  only my first initial and my last name in full. I never know if there's a correct way to sign art. Are you meant to stick to just one signature or are you able to write it however you like? Hmm...

Forest Guardian

'Forest Guardian'
Photoshop CS5

Some comic/illustrative work. It's nice to take a break from the 'fine art' side of things and just do something you really enjoy. Not to say I don't love painting. I think I need to add something to this still. But I'm happy with the outcome.
She guards the forest and speaks the language of the trees. Their souls and mana are one.

Painting progress; School project 2.

Second painting of the year for 2nd yr of Tafe. Thought I'd actually upload some progress. We had to pick our favourite book, movie and a found object and combine them into one image. So far, only about 25% of my image is done, if that. But here's an update anyway.

Update + photo

So I'm not even sure if anyone really looks at this blog, but I like to update it when I can. I know I should update more but life get's in the way and I've never been very good with organization. Busy with school and trying to sort out...stuff. But I wanted to upload this photo I took using my iPhone on the way to school a month or so ago. As soon as I saw it it made me smile and I hope it makes you smile too.

Thank you to whomever it was who drew this on the St Georges Rd bike path.

Request; 'Gaming Time' Official background

A request from my friend Jamie, a background for his new YouTube channel 'LukeandKoopa'. His new channel features gaming videos he makes with his friend Luke where they commentate, VS and co-op together for everyone's amusement. Every now and then there may be a music video or review uploaded as well. Looking forward to it! (Still in the works a bit, but it will be up and running very soon! 24-48hr)

'The Italian Way' & Update

Finally after what seems like a lifetime I finally have my internet back! I'm back at tafe so hopefully I'll have more art to share more often. I'm currently working on a commission for a friend and that will (hopefully) be used as the cover of his debut album. I'm looking forward to the album regardless of whether or not my art is on the cover. But in the meantime here's a little something I've been wanting to upload for the past week.

For an explanation of this piece please check out my deviantart submission of this artwork (which I'm more than happy with how it turned out).

Worship the Sun

'Worship the Sun'
Oil on A3 Canvas paper

Please excuse the bulldog clip at the top of the photo, and for the quality of the photo for that matter, didn't have anything to rest my painting on.
I'm really into further exploring the idea of Goddesses and Spirituality in my art and in life. There's no reference or influence for this painting in particular (eg. Hecate, Lilith, Artemis etc.) I just wanted to paint a woman of the earth so to speak.
((And yes most of the goddesses will probably be lacking clothing...what goddess wears clothes if she can help it?))

The Forest Queen

"The Forest Queen"
A4
0.05 Fine liner on paper

Spent the day drawing this. A young faun greeting his Queen with a gift behind his back. She's really not as stern as she looks.
I'm very happy with how this turned out. It started with just a quick drawing of a face, and slowly over the past 11 hours became this.
